Fishing Pier at Camp John Marc, Meridian, Texas
Tahoe Custom Builders was a first place award winner in the 2010 Great Forth Spring Tour of New Homes and Guide to Better Living for this completely handicap-accessible fishing pier at Camp John Marc in Meridian, Texas. Camp John Marc is a special camp where children with chronic illnesses enjoy a camping experience tailored to address the needs of their specific illness and give them a chance to interact and have fun with other kids just like them.
“What this brings to the camp, money cannot buy,” one judge stated. The judging team noted that the new deck on the pier was not only great looking, with retro lines that helped it look as if it had been there all along, but also displayed a great deal of thought to the layout and design.
Each fishing ‘station’ offered a drop down foot rest, allowing wheel chairs to slide right up to the railing and give the boys and girls the best access and visibility. The pier also included a new storage unit and special wash-up area with new sinks under a covered area of the pier.
